The theme of the 34th Sustainability Executive Roundtable will be "Systems Change: Plus Ça Change, Plus C'est La Même Chose?" and will be hosted by Professor Timothy Van Zandt, Dean of Faculty & Research, The INSEAD Schroders Chaired Professor of European Competitiveness and Reform.
We are in a period of unprecedented change: information and communications technology is disrupting our economies, climate change is transforming our environment, and shifting alliances and conflict are reshaping the geo-political landscape. In the midst of this upheaval, businesses face new demands and expectations regarding their role in society. Social entrepreneurs are creating new types of enterprises to find innovative approaches to "wicked" social problems, while large corporations are under pressure from millennial employees, as well as hyper-connected customers and interest groups, to clearly show they are a force for good in society.
The aim of this conference is to better understand what systemic change of this nature mean to INSEAD and to our mission to develop thoughtful leaders and entrepreneurs who create value for their organizations and communities. We will be looking at the roles of different stakeholders, including legislators, corporates, students and consumers when it comes to systemic change.
Is it time for a radical overhaul of our curriculum and research portfolio or merely another case of plus ça change, plus c'est la même chose?
We will also be presenting INSEAD's first GRI Sustainability Report at the event.
Prior to the Roundtable, on November 16th & 17th, 2016, INSEAD will be hosting the Network for Business Sustainability's biannual Sustainability Centres Workshop, which brings a network of international academic experts and business leaders of business sustainability research centres from around the world together to address key challenges and opportunities. We have invited attendees to join this year's Roundtable and bring with them new insights and perspectives to the table.
