INSEAD the business school for the world

Welcome to the 26th INSEAD Venture Competition (IVC)

The INSEAD Business Venture Competition (BVC) is previously referred to as the Lister Vickery Competition in honour of the memory of the late Lister Vickery (MBA 66) who, in 1982, succeeded in developing the first entrepreneurship elective course at INSEAD.

The competition was founded in the year 2000 and has been a central element in INSEAD’s entrepreneurship vision. It was rebranded as the INSEAD Venture Competition (IVC) in December 2012. MBA and EMBA students work on their venture projects during their INSEAD programme, ideally leveraging the different courses and entrepreneurship electives. The competition represents a natural and exciting step in the venture’s development, allowing teams to pitch their venture concept and planning.

The total prize purse for the competition is €50,000 and is divided as follows:

  • €10,000 to the Winner
  • €5,000 to the Runner-Up
  • €25,000 will be awarded to the Skolkovo Prize for IT, Bio-Tech, Medicine Technology, Energy Efficiency, Nuclear Energy or Space Technologies (This prize is underwritten by the Skolkovo Innovation Centre)
  • €5,000 will be to The Anat and Dov Bar-Gera Entrepreneurship Award for Women
  • €5,000 for the Social Impact Award

The awards are valuable to help the winners of the competition to start up their new

venture. They will also gain credibility and media exposure, as well as excitement and momentum to take their ventures forward. Read more about it under Eligibility & Rules.
