We are proud to announce that with effect from 1st September 2017, the INSEAD Corporate Governance Initiative (ICGI) will take on a new identity as the INSEAD Corporate Governance Centre (ICGC). The evolution is a significant milestone for INSEAD’s governance activities and validates a positive review of the contribution of ICGI. The transition from initiative to centre validates the work done since the launch of the initiative in 2010, and strengthens INSEAD’s commitment to promote better governance practices and deliver value through teaching, research and events to both the board directors and academic communities. Advanced Strategy for Directors programme

 

Designed to develop the industrial and competitive strategic competencies of directors,the Advanced Strategy for Directors (ASD) programme will be officially launched this summer. Based on research developed by INSEAD faculty, the programme content is unique, even though it deals with generic and vital issues affecting every organisation.

Modern Governance in Banking

Developing Effective Governance for Banks

 

The new modular programme developed in partnership with European Banking Federation (EBF) is designed to support board members and directors in the banking sector to navigate through the challenging landscape of today's business and economic environment to achieve improved governance and performance.

 

The 3-module x 3-day programme seeks to address the issues surrounding Effectiveness, Efficiency and Excellence in modern governance in the banking sector.

Module 2: 3-5 October 2018

Module 3: 24-26 January 2019

INSEAD Directors Forum and Certification in Corporate Governance Award Ceremony 2018

 

February 26-27, 2018, Singapore

 

The recent IDF saw a turnout of 50 attendees representing alumni of the International Directors Programme, members of the Singapore Institute of Directors, INSEAD Alumni and Faculty members. The theme "Culture and Risk Challenges in 21st Century Boards" brought to light the impetus for board directors to have a grasp in managing risk challenges posed by cyberattacks, corporate culture and board composition.

 

The panel discussion on gender equity in the boardroom unveils the common biases that board directors faced and tips to overcome these hurdles and contribute to board effectively. The keynote speaker, Professor Beatrice Weder di Mauro, addressed the group with her views on the merits of the different governance systems, particularly between Switzerland and Germany.

 

The Forum concluded with the Award Ceremony for awardees of the INSEAD Certificate in Corporate Governance which saw 33 new awardees obtaining their certification and joining the INSEAD Directors Network which consists of 555 IDP certified directos (IDP-C) from 58 nationalities.

Launch of the INSEAD Advanced International Certificate in Corporate Governance

 

Developing board directors is at the heart of the INSEAD Corporate Governance Centre. On the occasion of the recent INSEAD Directors Forum on 13-14 October, we have launched the Advanced Certificate in Corporate Governance to recognise the competencies attained by INSEAD certified board director (IDP-C) who have chosen to further develop themselves towards greater board effectiveness and excellence. It provides participants with a personal development plan at board level over multiple years (up to a maximum of five years) that is both stimulating and engaging.

Board Leadership in Corporate Culture: European Report 2017

 

INSEAD Corporate Governance Centre has participated in the research project in collaboration with Board Agenda and Mazars, to gather views of 435 board members across Europe on the subject of corporate culture.

 

In contribution to the research analysis, INSEAD Professor of Organisational Behaviour, Erik Van de Loo and Visiting Professor, Jaap Winter commented on the findings:

 

“Board acknowledge the vital significance of culture for the long term success of a company but do not yet know how to effectively address this at board level. The first step is to address the culture of the Board itself.”
