INSEAD the business school for the world

Welcome

INSEAD Corporate Governance Centre

We are proud to announce that with effect from 1st September 2017, the INSEAD Corporate Governance Initiative (ICGI) will take on a new identity as the INSEAD Corporate Governance Centre (ICGC). The evolution is a significant milestone for INSEAD’s governance activities and validates a positive review of the contribution of ICGI. The transition from initiative to centre validates the work done since the launch of the initiative in 2010, and strengthens INSEAD’s commitment to promote better governance practices and deliver value through teaching, research and events to both the board directors and academic communities. Board Leadership in Corporate Culture: European Report 2017

INSEAD Corporate Governance Centre has participated in the research project in collaboration with Board Agenda and Mazars, to gather views of 435 board members across Europe on the subject of corporate culture.

In contribution to the research analysis, INSEAD Professor of Organisational Behaviour, Erik Van de Loo and Visiting Professor, Jaap Winter commented on the findings:

“Board acknowledge the vital significance of culture for the long term success of a company but do not yet know how to effectively address this at board level. The first step is to address the culture of the Board itself.”

Launch of the INSEAD Advanced International Certificate in Corporate Governance

Developing board directors is at the heart of the INSEAD Corporate Governance Centre. On the occasion of the recent INSEAD Directors Forum on 13-14 October, we have launched the Advanced International Certificate in Corporate Governance to recognise the competencies attained by INSEAD certified board director (IDP-Cs) who have chosen to further develop themselves towards greater board effectiveness and excellence. It provides participants with a personal development plan at board level over multiple years (up to a maximum of five years) that is both stimulating and engaging.

INSEAD Directors Forum and Certification in Corporate Governance Award Ceremony 2017

October 13-14, 2017 in Fontainebleau, France

The recent IDF saw a record turnout of 130 alumni of the International Directors Programme. The theme "Boards in search of Purpose, Performance and People: Tradeoff or Alignment?" brought to light the complexity of governance in the face of a world driven by interdependence and speed and board's role in the restructuring dilemma. On the personal aspect, participants learnt about the impetus to 're-humanise' the corporation in the post digital economy and pertinent issues surrounding executive remuneration and building a NED portfolio.

The Award Ceremony held at the Château de Fontainebleau was the highlight of the evening as we celebrated the achievement of 126 participants from the International Directors Programme who have successfully completed their Certificate in Corporate Governance in October 2017 and qualified to join the INSEAD Directors Network (IDN) which comprised of 524 IDP-Cs from 56 nationalities.
