Fleet Management in the Humanitarian Sector

Since 2007, the INSEAD Humanitarian Research Group (HRG) has been engaged in the Fleet Management projects in the Humanitarian Sector. Transportation is the cornerstone of humanitarian programme delivery, and the second largest overhead cost to humanitarian organisations. The research has three main goals. First, to understand how international humanitarian organisations manage their vehicle fleets. Second, to investigate the critical factors affecting vehicle fleet management in international humanitarian organisations. Third, to examine how vehicle fleet management impacts humanitarian programme delivery.

This is the first academic research project of its kind to understand and develop solutions for the important issue of vehicle fleet management in humanitarian operations. HRG aspires to contribute to building the capacity of international humanitarian organisations for improved practices in the delivery of their programmes.
